Updating My Top 100 Favorite TV Shows
It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated the list of my Top 100 favorite TV shows of all time, so I decided to go ahead and make a few changes. In addition to moving a couple of shows up the list, and a few others down, I’ve removed five and replaced them accordingly.
No longer on the list are Lucky Louie, Hawaii Five-O, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, The Crocodile Hunter, and The Midnight Special. Those have been replaced by The Walking Dead (#94), Veep (#65), Damages (#62), Bob’s Burgers (#50), and Boardwalk Empire (#13).
I dropped a couple of shows further down the list, because they’ve slipped somewhat since the last time I updated this list (The Office, Sons of Anarchy) and raised some others which have gotten better during that same period (Parks & Recreation, Treme).
As always, this list merely reflects my own personal tastes and preferences, and should in no way be considered any sort of definitive “Best Ever” list. I am fully aware that it’s virtually impossible to argue that, for example, Get a Life is a better show than All in the Family – regardless of how you look at it. It’s simply an instance in which I’d rather watch the former than the latter, most of the time.
That being said, feel free to pelt me with rocks and garbage as you see fit. The only thing as fun as making these lists is discussing/debating them.
“Mad Men” at nine… That showing is NOT GOOD, BOB.
Do you think nine is too high, too low, or that “Mad Men” shouldn’t even be ranked at all? I’ll likely adjust accordingly, after the final season.
I’ve wanted to make my own list for awhile now; this is pretty motivating for me. I know that #1 on my list would be The Wire. Your Bob’s Burgers listing would be similar to mine. Did you hear that they have been signed for a full 4th season? A buddy that works with me at DISH is pretty excited, because he knows a girl that works on the show. This fall TV season is so jam-packed, that I think my top 100 list would change quite a bit a few months from now. I’ve even become part of the DVR crowd, because I have a Hopper that makes my life a lot easier. It has a lot of recording space, and it even allows me to customize folders for all of the genres I watch nowadays. Now I just need to make the time to watch everything.
Yeah, I could easily put The Wire at #1 – fantastic show. Was really glad to hear about Bob’s Burgers getting picked up for a 4th season – it keeps getting better.
